For hundreds of years, wax sealing has been used by people for various purposes. Although gradually losing its popularity, wax sealing still survives until this day. Technology may have changed the way people’s way of sending out mails where wax seal stamp was most used for, however, wax seal now have found other purposes and uses. In this modern-day, the wax seal is starting to get popular to be used as crafts. Although, some formal business correspondences still use a wax seal to give off a proper and elegant image that can create a strong impression.

If you are trying to get into wax sealing yourself, surely there are a few things you need to know. Here they are:

1. Choosing the right type of wax

As you may have already known, there are various types of waxes that you can choose. Each wax has its own advantages and disadvantages as well as its own unique quality. Waxes may look the same but they may possess different qualities despite being essentially the same thing. Even different shapes of waxes have different uses.

Stick waxes are more commonly used with a glue gun. This type of wax isn’t too convenient for melting with a sealing wax spoon. Since the wax has a wick that acts as a continuous heat source, the wax will melt once it is light up. A wax with no wick is more suitable for melting with a wax spoon or a furnace as well as a tea light candle as a heat source.

For beginners, the sealing wax spoon is easier to use. You can have more control over the temperature and the amount of wax melted at a time.

2. The right time to stamp the wax

After the wax is melted and poured down onto the surface you want, you will need to stick a sealing wax stamp onto it to make an impression. However, when is the right time to do the stamping? Is there a timing for this? Yes, you can’t just do it whenever you want. Different temperatures of wax can create different results for the final product by printing companies like Kiasu.

You should know what temperature works for the type of wax you use. Some wax is better stamped while hot, and some while the temperature is lower than boiling hot. Some can be done at any temperature, but the result will come off differently. You will need to try it out yourself with the type of wax that you have.

3. The right time to lift up the wax seal stamp

Only when the wax is completely cooled. When the wax is cooled enough, it will feel not sticky. At this time, you can lift your stamp. If you lift it too early, the wax may get stuck to the stamp and the seal will be ruined, so watch out for this. You can also watch for the consistency of the wax to know if it is the right time to lift the seal. When wax is cooled down, it will harden and not be runny anymore.
