Activating Your Service:
Your New Zealand cell phone number is located on the flap of the packaging containing your SIM card. It is located underneath the first bar code and above "PH NUMBER" and begins 02. To activate your New Zeland cell phone, simply follow the instructions below:
- Put the PrePay SIM card into your phone
- Be sure that battery is charged
- Turn on your phone and enter the 4 digit PIN code*
- Dial 777 to choose your calling plan
- Start calling
* The PUK is only required to unblock you phone if you enter in a PIN code incorrectly. Your phone may or may not prompt you for a PIN code. Follow your cell phone manual instructions to correctly use the PUK to unblock your phone along with PIN2. Call 0800 800 021 immediately to receive a customized PUK after you have answered security questions.
Customer service for your PrePay New Zealand GSM 900 SIM card is available 24 hr./day by dialing 777 at any time from your New Zealand cellular phone. (Dial 0800 800 021 free from any other phone.)
When calling overseas from the United States to your New Zealand cellular phone number callers will need to dial 011 followed by the country code (64) and then your New Zealand cell phone number, omitting the first 0 (zero). To call abroad from your New Zealand cell phone simply dial 00 followed by the country code and phone number.
Adding Talk Time:
Adding airtime credit to your New Zealand SIM card has never been easier. When your credit runs out, simply buy a recharge card or dial 777 and use your credit card.
To add airtime using a recharge voucher: Look for the Prepay sign in most supermarkets, service stations and selected dairies and appliance stores nationwide.
To top up (add airtime) your Prepay account by recharge card:
- Scratch the paint panel off the back of the recharge card to reveal a 12 digit code, call 777, select 2 to top up, then select 1 and enter the 12-digit number into the keypad of your mobile.
- An electronic voice will repeat the numbers back to you. Confirm the numbers are correct.
Over the phone (with your Visa or Mastercard):
- First you need to call 777 to register
- Then, each time you want to make a payment, call the same number, press 2 to top up your account, then press 2 again to choose credit card top up
- Enter your mobile number
- Enter your security code (we'll give you one when you register)
- Then simply follow the automated voice prompts

International Roaming Rates:
Your New Zealand Prepay SIM card can be used to roam in over 80 countries around the world. When you travel overseas, our roaming service makes sure your calls follow you. Unless you tell them, your callers won't even know you're away. Be advised that excluding Australia, roaming rates often exceed $1+ minute for incoming calls and can exceed $2/minute for outgoing calls.
Global Roaming is subject to credit criteria and you'll need to visit a Vodafone store to 'switch on' roaming each time and you'll need to take your mobile, a passport or drivers license photo ID and credit card and pay a set up fee of $10. Then, just switch on your mobile when you arrive overseas and it's business as usual.
Service Life:
Your New Zealand PrePay SIM card and initial call credit are valid for 12-months from the LAST time you topped it off. (When you turn your phone on in New Zealand). Keep your unused credit alive by topping your New Zealand SIM card with $20 at least every 12 months.
Every purchase of a recharge voucher extends the service life for an additional 12 months from the date the airtime is credited to your SIM card.
If do not recharge your New Zealand SIM card within 12 months your cell phone number will be disconnected and you will have to purchase a new PrePay New Zealand SIM card.
