Panasonic AG-W3 Worldwide VCR
The VHS VTR that gives you the world!
Key Features:
- Plays Back and Records in All of the World's TV Broadcast Systems
- The Panasonic AG-W3 worldwide VCR is your passport to a wide world of video excitement.
Thanks to a digital conversion circuit and tape/cylinder speed control circuit, the Panasonic AG-W3 worldwide VCR lets you play back VHS tapes recorded anywhere in the world - whether in PAL, SECAM, NTSC or other broadcast system.
You can also record a local TV program into any of the world's broadcast systems.
The key is the AG-W3's digital conversion circuit, which converts the scanning lines, field frequency and color signal to match the desired system.
- Multifunction Remote Control with Variable Slow Motion and Jog & Shuttle Search
- The Panasonic AG-W3's wireless remote control gives you fingertip control over functions such as variable slow motion, still picture, frame-by-frame advance, and shuttle search.
You can even use the remote control unit to select the TV broadcast system for the tape you want to view or record.
You also get full command over such settings and functions as PICTURE (sharp or fuzzy picture control), STROBE (strobe-like frame advance), ART (image contrast adjustment for frame-by-frame advance or strobe playback), and INDEX (high-speed VISS searching).

- Just Press a Button to Select the TV System
- The AG-W3 makes it easy to view a tape recorded anywhere in the world.
Insert recorded tape, and the Panasonic AG-W3 worldwide VCR automatically detects the TV broadcast system and begins playback.
All you need to do is select the appropriate setting on the output panel.
You can also record a tape into a TV broadcast system other than your local one.
For example, you could make a tape for a friend in another country, or make one to view yourself while traveling overseas.
To convert the signal for recording, simply press the system buttons for the appropriate input and the desired output.
- On-Screen Display in six languages
- The Panasonic AG-W3 worldwide VCR speaks your language.
Set the on screen display to whichever of six languages you prefer - English, German, French, Italian, Spanish or Japanese - and enjoy super-easy operation.
The AG-W3 also handles video formats used all over the globe, making it the perfect VCR for worldwide use.
- Simplified Quasi-Playback (SQPB) of S-VHS Tapes
- You can play back S-VHS-format tapes recorded in SP mode by setting the VHS/SQPB switch to "SQPB."
- While SQPB playback lets you view an S-VHS recording, it does not deliver the full original resolution. The AG-W3 cannot record in the S-VHS format.
- Be sure the VHS/SQPB switch is set to "VHS" when you're viewing a VHS recording. The picture quality will suffer if the switch is set to "SQPB."
- Hi-Fi Audio and Narrative Recording
- In SP mode, the AG-W3 allows recording and playback with outstanding Hi-Fi sound, for tapes in any TV broadcast system.
You can also dub over the original audio track, such as for adding narrative to foreign-language tapes.
The sound output is controlled via the Audio button on the remote control.
Settings include: L (Hi-Fi), R (Hi-Fi), MIX (Hi-Fi + normal), MONO (normal), and LR (Hi-Fi stereo).
(Hi-Fi playback is not possible of tapes recorded in LP or SLP mode.)
